Among Corals is the final installment of A Sea Trilogy. It’s been over a year since I created my initial sketch for these images. I considered revealing their depiction, but I’m content with the uncertainty, so I’ll keep it a somewhat of a mystery for now. The images have made me associate with different things over time. My initial impression was that they resembled corals. Later, I have also thought of them as fictional animals in landscapes, cave paintings, or bruised skin. I made a commitment to finish the trilogy by 2024. Despite my uncertainty about its completion, I am choosing to publish this final part as a first draft. The Coral project has been an unusually slow and technically advanced art process that I am currently growing a bit weary of. In my need to shift focus, I will keep this last artwork open as one of my ongoing projects that I most likely will alter or expand at a later date.
A while back, I had the idea that if A Sea Trilogy was to be showcased in a gallery, some of its components would be shown in a darkened room. To view the exhibition, the visitors are given a flashlight. The darkened room relates to the unknown, a search and a disappearance. The logistics have not been fully thought out. Ideally, I want to avoid visitors tripping over each other or the artwork.
