DESIGN / SPACE SCARF

I have almost run out of my buffer of semi-finished artworks in this blog. Therefore, I have turned to my book with unrealized ideas. One of those ideas was to make a Space Scarf. Although it’s ten years since I came up with the concept, I thought it’d be fun to test it since I already had all the necessary materials.

This was the outcome of my initial test. It came out better than I had anticipated. I like the uneven and marled planets. I’m considering making a kimono or a kaftan as my next project. This idea has been promoted ridicule from friends. For some unknown reason it is amusing that I would become a silk scarf painter.

Most people share an comon interest for space, cosmos or at least the evening sky. Personally, I haven’t gone full nerd yet, but I might one day. Today, I only have five books on space on my bookshelf, four of which are art books, and the fifth is a French pop-up book for children about the solar system. My space collection’s most cherished item is my 1969 Apollo Moon Landing 3D collection, which I discovered at a flea market in Brooklyn.

I also have a thing for 3D. That is why I possess small collection of 3D glasses. Four analog frames and one digital frame. To view the Moon Landing in 3D you need a pair of Viewmaster glasses. These ones belonged to my mother as a child.

As I am writing this blog, I am recuperating from a severe injury after being involved in a traffic accident. My surgeries were deemed successful, and I hope the worst is behind me. However, I won’t be walking without crutches for a few months. I am anticipating a year of rehabilitation to complete my recovery. At the moment, I am engaged in multiple projects that include video, sound design, sculpture, and photography. All the projects I am currently working on require mobility, so unfortunately, I need to shift my focus to new projects. I am considering resuming painting again because I find it to be a peaceful and harmonious occupation. The downside of picking up a project in painting is that it´s one of the hardest things I have tried to learn and therefore it is not entirely certain that it will result in any finished work. During my nineteen-day hospital stay, I had a ”workshop” in creative freewriting. Freewriting is a form of writing that involves uncensoring yourself and recording everything that comes to mind. I have now skimmed through my nineteen pages that I scribbled together while experiencing a life in limbo. There is a few ideas, thoughts and phrases that I am currently very fond of. We’ll see what becomes of it.

FYI: blog posts related to crafts, design, or assignments in creative production will be relocated to another blog at a later time. Essentially, posts that are not classified as fine art will be removed from the ‘Fine Arts’ tab. The ‘Commissions’ tab will be the destination for any creative production or process that is user-oriented or has a specific function.
