Material: Acrylic paint on canvas.
This is the first painting, that I have painted, that I like. Learning to paint is tricky. While I’ve developed my vision as a photographer over time, when painting; the hand, wet paint, and inner visual image are rarely in agreement. What I like about this painting is the combination of it having the naive qualities that a painting brings, mixed with photographic similar qualities, like the way the light falls, separating the dark materials of the shoes interior.
Once I came across a fashion magazine that stated that shoes are what differentiates humans from animals. I believe that is oversimplifying things. There is a bit more to it than that. But it is an object about which everyone has some sort of opinion and that stirs emotions. A friend once shared with me that the sound of high heels causes him fear. At first, I thought it was a joke and began to laugh, but then I realized he was being serious. Sometimes when I hear the sound of high heels I think of him wondering what he might have been through and what made him this way.
